People & Culture: A Name that Reflects Real Change

15 January 2026

At Hipoges, we continue to move forward in our transformation: the Human Resources Department has been renamed People & Culture. This is not a cosmetic change; it is the most accurate way to recognise the value of people within the organisation, reflect the shift already taking place in management processes, emphasise the strategic relevance of the function and highlight the importance of our corporate culture and values.

For years, “HR” has been the commonly used term, but it does not always convey the reality we need: care, closeness and commitment to our people. The function has evolved: today, it is expected to lead cultural changes that support the business strategy. SHRM, one of the largest human resources associations, points out that HR is moving away from being a support function to becoming a driver of cultural and operational transformation, with a focus on employee experience and data-driven decision-making.

The name People & Culture sends a clear message: people are not “resources”, they are the engine of the organisation; and culture is not a slogan, but the sum of decisions and behaviours that underpin the strategy. This driver of change is becoming a global trend.

What does this mean for Hipoges?

For our Chief People & Culture Officer, Javier Lorés, it translates into three priorities:

“First, to drive talent with a long-term vision: attracting, developing and supporting professional growth.

Second, to take care of the employee experience at key moments: onboarding, development and mobility, as this is where much of engagement is built.

Third, to strengthen a coherent culture: values, behaviours and processes.”

To reinforce this vision, a global and transversal People & Culture team has been established, alongside three local teams: Talent (recruitment and training), Payroll & Labour (labour relations and payroll) and Health & Safety (health, prevention and safety). All of them share the same objective: to develop the best talent, improve the employee experience and ensure consistency with our culture and values.

People & Culture means listening more, explaining better and acting consistently, while at the same time strengthening the role of the function as a strategic partner to the business.
