On October 1st, Hipoges was present as a sponsor at the NPL Global 2025 event, organized by SmithNovak in London. This international summit, which brought together more than 300 attendees from more than 70 companies in the financial and real estate sector, consolidated its position as one of the leading meetings in the global distressed asset market.
A strategic meeting point for investors and industry experts
Held at the Pullman London St Pancras Hotel, the event brought together banks, funds, servicers, advisors, legal and technology firms to discuss the main market trends in non-performing loans (NPLs), restructured loans (RPLs), SRT operations, performing loans and alternative assets.
Hipoges had a prominent participation in two of the central panels on the first day of the event.
Hugo Velez at the Global Investor Panel: structural changes and new opportunities
Hugo Velez our Managing Partner and CO-CEO of Hipoges, was one of the speakers at the Global Investor Panel. During the session, participants discussed the transformation of the market: from the end of large portfolios to the proliferation of smaller operations, between €10 million and €100 million, which attract more specialized investors.
Among the topics discussed, the following were discussed:
- The impact of the economic and geopolitical situation on financing costs and the origin of operations.
- The evolution of forward flows and the growing role of alternative assets such as SRTs, RPLs or special situations.
- The influence of the Basel regulations, IFRS 9 and the ECB’s new provisioning requirements.
- Opportunities in performing loans and private lending, with special attention to operational complexity and alliances with banking entities.
An intervention that made it possible to highlight the vision of Hipoges as a key player in the structuring and management of this type of asset at an international level.

Pedro Valle-Domingues and the rise of RPLs in Europe
Then, Pedro Valle-Domingues, Chief Business Development Officer at Hipoges, participated in the panel Focus on Re-Performing Loans (RPLs). This session delved into the growing prominence of RPLs, especially in markets such as Spain, Italy, Greece and Ireland, where they already represent a significant part of transactions.
Pedro’s intervention addressed:
- The current size of the RPL market and its future evolution.
- Specific legal and regulatory considerations.
- The key differences between RPL and NPL servicing.
- Challenges in pricing, redefault modelling and securitisation.
- The role of Basel IV, standardization and the growth of the secondary market as levers for its consolidation.
A presentation that reinforced the positioning of Hipoges as a benchmark in comprehensive portfolio management with a reperforming component.
