On the 5th of March, Hugo Velez, our Managing Partner and Co-CEO Hipoges, was present at the Global Investor Summit London 2024 organized by the DDC Financial Group. This insightful event took place at London’s prestigious Stamford Bridge Stadium, covering the latest developments in alternatives, secondary market transactions, LP allocations, co-investment strategies and other related topics.
More than 200 people attended the event, of which 60 participated as speakers, there were several nationalities from 23 different countries, in the panels that took place during the day. In addition, it also had the presence of 170 companies and 19 sponsors.
There were several networking opportunities during the event. Among them and one of the most characteristic of the DDC Group is the MEETING platform. This platform allows you to filter, send messages and schedule meetings 7 days before the start of the event. Once both parties agree, a table number is assigned for a 15-minute meeting. In addition, during the day there were also breaks between the different panels, with ideal environments to continue networking, as well as time for cocktails and more conversations.

Hugo Velez participated in the penultimate panel “Global investment opportunities in NPL. Unlocking value in distressed debt markets”, this panel was moderated by Adam Fogarty, partner at the London law firm Linklaters. Participating alongside Hugo were Eduardo Omoto García, Senior Investment Officer at IFC; Manuela Franchi, Chief Executive Officer of doValue; and Benjamin Bornstein, Partner at the asset management company Three Line Capital.
For 45 minutes they talked about the many changes that the industry has experienced. NPL experts representing different regions discussed strategies, opportunities, challenges, industry benchmarks and best practices from the most active NPL investment markets. Additionally, questions were asked about possible relative risks and/or returns between different geographies as well as product types, for example, real estate-based NPL/UTP by categories including office, residential, hospitality and retail.
There were many investors attending the event, including many family offices, focused on creating new contacts and welcomed experienced participants with great seniority.
